Other Prince Edward County centers near Picton
Wellington is a smaller historic town, renowned for its beautiful waterfront and park. Built along the shores of Lake Ontario, Wellington offers all the required amenities within a few minutes walk from Wellington on the Lake.
Bloomfield is a quaint town of Victorian homes, Artisans shops, boutiques, Antique Shops and eateries. It is close to Sandbanks Provincial Park.
Belleville, with a population of more than 50,000 residents, is the largest service centre in the Bay of Quinte region. As such, it offers excellent restaurants and shopping facilities. Its waterfront on the Bayshore Trail provides two of the area’s superior boat launches.
Trenton, now part of the recently amalgamated City of Quinte West, has a population of more than 42,000. Along with its long and prosperous agricultural tradition, Trenton is perhaps best known as the start of the Trent Severn Waterway, a 386-km system of rivers and lakes that joins Lake Ontario with Lake Huron. Trenton is also home to one of Canada’s largest Military Bases.
Golf
A few minutes drive from Welbank Meadows is Wellington on the Lake Golf Course. This majestic 117-acre regulation golf course offers you a unique and challenging golfing experience. Designed by internationally renowned architects, Azinger Design Company Inc., Wellington on the Lake features an exciting 9-hole, 3,500-yard layout that’s sure to please every golf enthusiast.

Parks
Lake on the Mountain – One of Ontario’s natural wonders: Lake on the Mountain is a freshwater lake located 62m above the Bay of Quinte and has no visible water source. This memorable location offers a magnificent view overlooking the lake and surrounding countryside.
Macaulay Mountain – This 440-acre site accommodates all types of walkers. Whether you are looking for a quiet family walk or rugged terrain for hiking, Macaulay Mountain offer it all. Also a good area for picnics, bird watching and bike trails.
Birdhouse City – This area is located at Macaulay Mountain and attracts many tourists. With over 100 birdhouses, most reproductions of noticeable historic buildings, it is an amazing site and a perfect location of bird watching.
Little Bluff – Located on the southeast edge of the County, Little Bluff is a picturesque spot for a picnic or walk. It is an 18-meter high limestone escarpment that overlooks Prince Edward Bay. On clear days you can see across to Waupoos Island.
Sunset Lookout – Living up to its name, Sunset Lookout offers a spectacular view of the sun setting behind the distant horizon of Big Island and Muscote Bay. Also a popular spot for picnics.
Point Petre – Another favoured spot for picnics, swimming and site seeing. Point Petre is the southern most point in the county with pebble beaches, limestone cliffs and many beautiful landscapes.

Prince Edward County offers the very best of Ontario to its residents. The warmth of the locals always attracts many people to our shores, but there is much more. The list of the area’s attractions is lengthy. There’s something here for the history buff, the theatre goer, the antique enthusiast, and the naturalist. There are excellent local colleges for those interested in continuing education and a vibrant and active community where you can pursue any number of social, professional or volunteer interests.
